Visiting Wellington

At the bottom of the world on a sparkling harbour is Wellington, a little city with a big heart. Visit Wellington and discover why Lonely Planet dubbed it ‘the coolest little capital in the world’.

Surrounded by nature and fuelled by creative energy, Wellington is a compact city with a powerful mix of culture, history, nature and cuisine. Fuel your visit with strong coffee and world-class craft beer – Wellingtonians are masters of casual dining, with plenty of great restaurants, night markets and food trucks.

Wander through hidden laneways and discover street art, experience the interactive national museum, Te Papa, and be inspired by theatres and over 55 galleries. Home to half a million people, the Wellington region’s awe-inspiring landscapes are the perfect backdrops for movie-making magic, which can be experienced behind the scenes in Oscar-winning studios.

With an international airport just 15 minutes from the city centre, Wellington is an ideal short break destination, as well as a minimum two night stay as part of any New Zealand holiday.
